Tax Director / CPA — Established CPA Firm

An established, privately owned CPA firm is seeking an experienced Tax Director to lead client relationships, oversee a small team, and manage tax planning and compliance for business owners and individuals.

This is an opportunity to take a meaningful leadership role with an existing client portfolio, an experienced support team, and a structured transition alongside the owner. You’ll have the flexibility of remote work and a direct voice in how the practice operates.

What you’ll do

• Serve as the primary adviser for business owners and individual clients.
• Lead tax planning, quarterly estimates and year-end client meetings.
• Oversee preparation and review of S corporation, partnership, C corporation, individual and trust returns.
• Manage and support the tax and bookkeeping team.
• Review financial statements and oversee accounting adjustments.
• Research complex tax issues and handle IRS and state correspondence.
• Manage workflow, deadlines, engagement scope and billing.
• Prepare complex returns and handle technical work when needed.

What we’re looking for

• Active CPA license.
• At least 10 years of public-accounting tax experience, including 3+ years managing client relationships and supervising staff.
• Strong experience with closely held businesses, their owners and clients with multiple entities.
• Proven ability to independently lead client meetings, make technical decisions and manage a client portfolio.
• Strong communication, organization and follow-through.
• An approachable leadership style and commitment to quality client service.
• Proficiency in UltraTax CS and QuickBooks Online preferred.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
