Senior Quickbooks Controller/CFO with Multi-location Mental Health Experience

We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper with multi-practice mental health experience to support the financial operations of a growing mental health practice group.

Direct experience managing the books for multiple mental health practices or a multi-location behavioral health organization is required.

This role is responsible for keeping the books accurate and current across multiple practices and entities, completing monthly closes, reconciling accounts, and producing financial information that practice owners and leadership can rely on.

The ideal candidate has experience managing the books for multiple mental health, behavioral health, psychiatry, therapy, counseling, or similar healthcare practices and is comfortable working across separate entities, locations, and sets of financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Manage bookkeeping for multiple mental health practices using QuickBooks Online
• Maintain accurate general ledgers and chart of accounts
• Reconcile bank, credit card, payroll, and balance sheet accounts
• Record and reconcile patient revenue, insurance payments, deposits, expenses, and intercompany transfers
• Manage accounts payable and assist with accounts receivable reporting
• Complete monthly close for each practice
• Prepare monthly P&L and balance sheet reports
• Maintain accurate books across multiple locations and legal entities
• Review financials for discrepancies, unusual transactions, and coding errors
• Compare financial performance across locations
• Work with practice owners and leadership to resolve accounting questions
• Support cash-flow reporting and financial analysis
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting
• Prepare financial information for tax, lending, acquisition, and other business needs

Required Experience

• Direct bookkeeping or accounting experience with multiple mental health or behavioral health practices is required
• Experience supporting a multi-location mental health or behavioral health organization strongly preferred
• 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
• Strong QuickBooks Online experience
• Experience with monthly close and financial statement preparation
• Strong bank and balance sheet reconciliation skills
• Strong Excel skills
• Understanding of healthcare practice revenue, collections, payroll, and operating expenses
• Ability to manage multiple practices simultaneously and meet monthly deadlines

Mental Health / Behavioral Health Experience

You should understand the financial dynamics of mental health and behavioral health practices, including:

• Patient and insurance revenue
• Insurance payments and adjustments
• Accounts receivable
• Provider compensation
• Therapist, psychiatrist, psychologist, and other provider economics
• Payroll and contractor payments
• Practice supplies and operating expenses
• Rent and occupancy costs
• Technology and software expenses
• Equipment and capital expenditures
• Owner distributions
• Intercompany transactions
• Multi-location financial reporting

Experience with therapy practices, psychiatry practices, counseling groups, behavioral health organizations, outpatient mental health practices, or other multi-provider healthcare organizations is highly relevant.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who knows behavioral health accounting and can own the books for multiple practices.

You should be able to look at a practice's financials and recognize when something doesn't look right.

You don't just enter transactions.

You own the accuracy of the numbers, the monthly close, and the financial reporting for the practices you support.

You should be comfortable managing multiple locations, entities, bank accounts, providers, and financial statements at the same time.

Pay: $50.00 - $70.00 per hour
