Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Corporate Communications to lead the company’s corporate communications strategy and strengthen its relationships with employees, customers, investors, media, business partners, and other key stakeholders.

The Director of Corporate Communications will develop and execute integrated communications programs that support the company’s business objectives, corporate reputation, executive visibility, internal engagement, and external brand presence.

This role will work closely with executive leadership, Marketing, Public Relations, Investor Relations, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, and other teams to ensure communications are clear, consistent, timely, and aligned with the company’s strategic priorities.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator and strategic advisor with strong writing, media relations, stakeholder management, and crisis communications experience.

Key ResponsibilitiesCorporate Communications Strategy

  • Develop and execute the company’s corporate communications strategy.
  • Translate business priorities and corporate objectives into effective communications plans.
  • Establish communications priorities, messaging frameworks, channels, and performance objectives.
  • Ensure consistent corporate messaging across internal and external audiences.
  • Advise senior leadership on communications strategy and stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitor industry, media, and reputational trends that may affect the organization.

Executive Communications

  • Support executive leadership with strategic communications and messaging.
  • Draft speeches, talking points, executive announcements, presentations, letters, and other leadership communications.
  • Prepare executives for media interviews, public appearances, conferences, and industry events.
  • Develop executive thought-leadership content.
  • Ensure executive communications reflect the company’s strategic priorities and corporate voice.

Media Relations & Public Relations

  • Develop and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, analysts, and relevant media organizations.
  • Coordinate media outreach, press releases, interviews, briefings, and corporate announcements.
  • Identify opportunities to increase positive and accurate media coverage.
  • Prepare media briefing materials and executive talking points.
  • Monitor media coverage and provide leadership with relevant insights.
  • Coordinate with external public relations agencies when applicable.

Corporate Reputation

  • Develop programs designed to strengthen corporate reputation and stakeholder trust.
  • Monitor public perception, media coverage, industry conversations, and emerging reputational issues.
  • Ensure communications accurately represent the company’s business, values, strategy, and accomplishments.
  • Identify potential reputation risks and coordinate appropriate communications responses.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and executive leadership on sensitive communications.

Crisis & Issues Communications

  • Develop and maintain corporate crisis communications plans.
  • Coordinate communications during significant business, operational, regulatory, or reputational events.
  • Prepare crisis statements, FAQs, talking points, internal communications, and media responses.
  • Establish communication protocols and approval processes for high-priority situations.
  • Work with Legal, Compliance, Security, HR, and executive leadership as appropriate.
  • Conduct post-event reviews and incorporate lessons learned into future communications plans.

Internal Communications

  • Develop internal communications strategies that keep employees informed and engaged.
  • Partner with Human Resources and executive leadership on company-wide announcements.
  • Create internal communications for organizational changes, strategic initiatives, leadership updates, and major company developments.
  • Manage communications through appropriate internal channels, including email, intranet, employee platforms, town halls, and leadership meetings.
  • Promote clear, timely, and consistent communication across the organization.

Corporate Content & Messaging

  • Develop corporate messaging frameworks, narratives, positioning statements, and key messages.
  • Oversee the creation of corporate communications materials.
  • Draft and edit press releases, executive communications, corporate statements, newsletters, reports, and website content.
  • Maintain consistent corporate tone, voice, and messaging standards.
  • Work with Brand Marketing and Content teams to ensure alignment between corporate and brand communications.

Stakeholder Communications

  • Develop communications programs for key stakeholder groups.
  • Support communications with customers, business partners, investors, employees, industry organizations, and other audiences as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with Investor Relations on corporate announcements and financial communications when applicable.
  • Support major corporate events, partnerships, launches, organizational announcements, and strategic initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Marketing, Brand, Investor Relations, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Sales, Product, and Operations.
  • Serve as a communications advisor for major company initiatives.
  • Coordinate communications across departments to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Establish effective communication workflows and approval processes.
  • Manage multiple communications projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Team & Agency Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop corporate communications professionals.
  • Establish team goals, priorities, performance expectations, and development plans.
  • Build a collaborative and high-performing communications function.
  • Manage external PR agencies, communications consultants, writers, and other vendors as needed.
  • Evaluate agency performance, deliverables, budgets, and strategic contribution.

Communications Measurement & Reporting

  • Establish KPIs and measurement frameworks for corporate communications.
  • Monitor media coverage, audience engagement, communications reach, sentiment, and stakeholder response.
  • Analyze communications performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare regular communications reports for senior leadership.
  • Use data and stakeholder insights to refine communications strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, English, or a related field.
  • 20+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, strategic communications, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience managing communications teams, agencies, or major corporate communications programs preferred.
  • Proven experience developing and executing corporate communications strategies.
  • Strong writing, editing, presentation, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience working with executive leadership and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience with media relations and corporate public relations.
  • Experience developing executive communications and thought-leadership content.
  • Experience supporting crisis or issues communications.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information professionally.
  • Excellent judgment and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in technology, SaaS, FinTech, financial services, healthcare, consulting, or another highly regulated or rapidly changing industry.
  • Experience working with national or international media.
  • Experience managing corporate reputation programs.
  • Experience supporting investor communications or public-company communications.
  • Experience with crisis communications and business continuity communications.
  • Experience managing external communications agencies.
  • Experience developing global or multi-market communications strategies.
  • Professional certifications in communications, public relations, or related disciplines.
