Medical Director – Psychiatrist

Merrimack Valley Behavioral Health (MVBH) is seeking a Massachusetts-licensed Psychiatrist (MD or DO) to serve as Medical Director for our mental health Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) in Amesbury, Massachusetts.

The Medical Director will provide clinical and medical leadership for the program, supporting the delivery of safe, evidence-based psychiatric care to adults experiencing acute and complex mental health conditions. The Medical Director will work collaboratively with the clinical leadership team, therapists, psychiatric providers, and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
• Active and unrestricted Massachusetts medical license
• Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
• Board certification/eligibility through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP)
• Current DEA registration, as applicable
• Experience providing supervision of psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management
• Ability to participate in MVBH’s credentialing and privileging process
• Ability to meet applicable Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Joint Commission requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a PHP, IOP, inpatient, community mental health, or other intensive behavioral-health setting
• Experience treating adults with complex or co-occurring psychiatric conditions
• Experience treating patients with co-occurring mental-health and substance-use presentations
• Experience providing clinical supervision and/or medical leadership
• Familiarity with multidisciplinary treatment planning
• Familiarity with Joint Commission-accredited behavioral-health programs
