We establish and run the Separation Management Office for complex corporate carve-outs, working with private equity sponsors, corporate M&A teams and portfolio company leadership from pre-deal preparation to operational independence.

The role

As a Managing Director, you will lead complex separation and integration engagements as the senior delivery principal, own the client relationship and direct cross-functional delivery teams. You will stay close to the detail, resolve problems and take responsibility for the outcome.

What you will lead

----------------------

• Translate the transaction perimeter and deal objectives into a practical separation plan, with clear responsibilities, resources, milestones and costs.
• Establish and run the Separation Management Office, coordinating finance, technology, people, legal and operational workstreams across countries.
• Lead Day 1 preparation and readiness assessments, addressing dependencies such as legal entity setup, contract disentanglement and IT separation while protecting business continuity.
• Support TSA negotiation, manage service dependencies and lead the transition to standalone operations, including TSA exit and operational handover.
• Control separation costs, resolve cross-functional trade-offs and bring decisions to the right people before they delay delivery.
• Lead integration with the buyer's business where required, connecting separation delivery with the buyer's operating model and value creation plan.
• Build and direct delivery teams, communicate clearly with management, investors and boards, and set the standard for quality, pace and ownership.

What you will bring

• A substantial M&A delivery track record, including repeated responsibility for leading complex, multi-country carve-outs and integrations.
• Experience as the senior delivery principal across multiple transactions, accountable for the overall programme and the relationship with senior management, investors and boards.
• A practical understanding of the critical path, costs and operational risks of separation, and evidence of resolving difficult delivery issues.
• The judgement to handle the most consequential delivery decisions, challenge senior stakeholders constructively and guide other experienced practitioners.
• Experience with a major consulting firm or an equivalent specialist advisory or operational background.
• At least three referenceable private equity clients.

An interest in contributing to our published research and AI-assisted delivery tools is welcome.

Managing Director-level base salary and performance-related pay, reflecting your experience and delivery record, plus health insurance, pension and other benefits. Reward is linked to client satisfaction and practice development. There is no requirement to sell work and no sales target.
