Summary of Job Description

The Director, Construction (Remodels) is responsible for the achievement of the company’s remodel plan, special non-typical projects, and the development of the department’s Support functions related to projects that impact stores outside the scope of the new construction team. This position integrates Construction remodels with other departments (IS, RD, FAST, Operations, Asset Management, Leasing, Legal, Operations Innovation). The Director, Construction (Remodels) develops department strategies, policies, and procedures in collaboration with the Executive Director and Vice President. This position implements process improvements, including new systems or system enhancements, and ensures high quality customer service.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for remodels, store refresh projects, and any equipment or technology implementation across all stores. Creates remodel and project budgets and manages all projects within established budgets.
• Develops the department’s Support functions related to projects that impact stores outside the scope of the new construction team and Integrates construction remodel with other departments (IS, RD, FAST, Operations, Asset Management, Leasing, Legal, Operations Innovation).
• Coaches and develops managers, professionals, and support staff involved in renovation projects to elevate their performance. Works with the VP, other Directors, and Facilities Senior Managers on selecting, evaluating, and retaining Construction remodel staff
• Searches, evaluates, negotiates, and contracts with General Contractors and trade vendors to accomplish renovation goals at company-owned facilities throughout the U.S (United States). and Canada.
• Develops department strategies, policies, and procedures and process improvements, including new systems or system enhancements, in collaboration with other Directors, Senior Managers, and the VP. Ensures adherence to established budgets (R&M, CAP, Remodel).
• Manages performance of General Contractors to ensure work meets quality requirements and is provided in a timely and cost-effective manner Ensures use of Tango and Service Channel tools and reports to manage projects and costs.
• Supports Risk Management’s crisis management program by ensuring effective response to facility emergencies and ADA compliance. Ensures high quality customer service.
• Works closely with new Construction on developing appropriate specifications and standards for store construction, maintenance, and equipment.

Work Environment

* Travels to stores (local and overnight travel); must be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and climb on roof about 40 feet high and lift to 50 lbs.

Your background and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management required.
• 10+ years of construction project management experience, preferably in a retail/hospitality environment with increasing management responsibility
• Successful completion of initial and periodically required trainings.
• Obtaining a valid Food Handler's Card within 30 days of employment is a requirement of this position.

Pay Range: M4: $161,000 - $226,000 / Annual

* Within the range, individual pay is determined using various factors, including work location and experience.
